Chiude IMIsound, riapre IndieGuild

Oggi è una giornata un po’ triste in quanto il nostro amico Tony Lawson ha deciso di chiudere il suo IMIsound.
Da subito gli dissi che secondo me era una delle migliori community musicali che avevo visto, in particolare era la migliore italiana, sia per la qualità degli artisti, sia per la gentilezza del padrone di casa.
Purtroppo però la fatica di portare avanti un progetto di tali dimensioni da solo e senza appoggi esterni ha fiaccato anche la britannica determinazione del buon Tony, che però non rinuncia al suo impagabile lavoro di promozione della musica e dell’arte Indie, rilanciando il progetto IndieGuild, che però al contrario di IMIsound non sarà più una community, ma una sorta di blog gestita da lui direttamente.
Nella nostra conversazione dell’altro giorno, Tony mi ha detto che plausibilmente IndieGuild sarà pienamente operativa da settembre.
Quindi da parte mia e di tutti gli ifsounds in bocca al lupo all’amico Tony per la sua nuova avventura!

New reviews on ProgArchives

The release of if…sounds created more interest about our very first albums.
I’ve seen this on ProgArchives where Guillermo Hernandez (alias memowakeman) and Torodd Fuglesteg reviewed our albums if and In the cave.
The reviews are not very positive, but I can agree many things they wrote: those albums were still too “amateurish” and they lack direction (especially “In the cave”). I’m sure there are great moments in, but all in all there are too many things to fix.

In ciò che oggi si può ascoltare in giro di questo lavoro c’è una eccellente sintesi di maturità compositiva, coerenza degli arrangiamenti ed efficacia realizzativa nella produzione.
E’ in realtà il primo concept ideato unitariamente da Dario… se vi raccontassi cosa fosse Thirsty (si chiamava “Don’t Wake Me”) in origine e vi facessi ascoltare la demo rudimentale realizzata con i suoni di un PC Spectrum e con sovraincisioni funamboliche del radioregistratore nel 1994, probabilmente preferireste sorvolare su qualsiasi commento. A lot of new friends joined ifsounds these days… Thank you all a lot!
We received e-mails from everywhere: U.S.A., The Netherlands, Korea, Mexico, Germany, U.K., Sweden, Finland, France, New Zealand, Poland and many other Countries.
Thanks to Artur from the Polish MLWZ, to Torodd and Guillermo from ProgArchives, to Doug from ProgGnosis, to the guys from DPRP and to all the media that are covering our if…sounds release (I really can’t name everyone!) and that are helping Nick Katona and us to spread our music around.
But the biggest thank you is for our new friends of ProgWereld a fine Dutch site that dedicated us this page. By far the Dutch community of new friends is the biggest one… a real Orange invasion (today the World Cup begins :-D!!!).

ifsounds and Melodic Revolution Records is glad to introduce you if…sounds, a double CD free compilation for ifsounds’ fans only, 17 songs from the albums the band released as if and the previously unreleased Don Quixote, the first song the band released as ifsounds, + 2 booklets with full lyrics and photos. To get the compilation you need to do 2 simple steps.

20 anni suonando… secondo Claudio (IV parte)

The Stairway (In origine The Stairway To Happiness):
Lo scenario degli embrioni di questo concept, affonda le sue radici nei mesi di Ottobre - Novembre 1994, quando raccontai a Dario che la mia insegnante di filosofia ci aveva dato il compito di realizzare un lavoro, in una qualsiasi forma di espressione (letteraria, artistica o musicale) che parlasse della felicità.
Ovviamente Dario non perse tempo per far cadere la scelta sulla forma musicale: nacque così l’idea di “descrivere” la felicità attraverso un viaggio onirico che oggi si riscontra ancora nella attuale produzione del concept.
Fondamentalmente nacquero allora le idee primordiali di “Close Your Eyes”, “The Stairway” e “Find Your Way”, poi Dario riutilizzò l’idea di una serie di 3 brani strumentali scritti e registrati rudimentalmente in precedenza con un radioregistratore divenute poi “Uneasy Sleep” Pt. 1, Pt. 2 e Pt. 3.
Riutilizzò anche un suo brano già precedentemente scritto oggi pubblicato come “It’s Just Me”. Io avevo imparato a strimpellare la chitarra da poco e così mi dilettai a scrivere un pezzo dal titolo “Going Away” solo strumentale che “fonograficamente” non ha mai visto la luce.
E’ il secondo concept ideato da Dario.
L’ idea di “Missing” arrivò successivamente. In quel periodo stavo puntando alla realizzazione di un pezzo in più parti le cui idee vennero fuori pian piano: il risultato fu “Like A Bird” che piacque anche a Dario e venne introdotta nel concept.
Oggi l’album “The Stairway” nella versione disponibile sul web, rappresenta l’esordio di Dario come produttore, una volta abbandonato pressochè definitivamente l’ormai vecchio recorder.
